Your challenge
NetMatch is a software company that provides Travel Technology solutions to clients across Europe. We help international clients in the travel industry by building, maintaining and extending their web functionalities, back office integrations and by integrating third party solutions.
Our system administrators play an important role in this by managing a large number of ICT systems. Besides the 450 physical and virtual servers that we have in house, we also manage clients’ servers. Approximately half of the systems are running Linux; other operating systems that we use are VMware ESX servers and Windows. Linux is the underlying platform for a mixture of indexing, search, high-availability and booking systems. Next to that Linux is used in NetMatch underlying platform for our balancers, proxies, web servers, etc.
As a Linux administrator, your primary responsibility lies in the daily management and continuity of the ICT environment with the associated infrastructure, as well as designing and setting up new projects. You work in a team of 7 system administrators who have several areas of expertise. Your primary focus is on Linux servers.
Outside office hours you are available for extended availability shifts. You are then responsible for handling primarily Linux but also Windows and other application problems.

What do we expect from you?
  • Higher education or equivalent ability (HBO), education with ICT component;
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in the role of Linux Engineer/system administrator;
  • Demonstrable knowledge of and experience with Linux (RHEL/CentOS), scripting and virtualization;
  • Proficiency in Dutch and English.

Technology stack
To give you an idea, this is what our system administrators are working with and are enthusiastic about:
  • Datacenter:
    • Work with us to bring our current virtualization platform to the future;
    • Docker/Kubernetes/Rancher are used as our container platform;
    • We work primarily with Dell hardware;
  • Networking:
    • At the datacenter, the Top of Rack switches in our racks are running Cumulus Linux to provide us with a high-speed Open Networking architecture;
    • We manage a number of firewalls in a mixture of pfSense and Cisco ASA;
    • We host our own public DNS servers;
  • Scripting:
    • To automate repetitive basic tasks, we use Bash;
    • Python is used for the more challenging tasks;
  • Deployment:
    • We deploy Linux servers using Puppet and, when not already available, we create our own Puppet modules to install and configure software;
    • The Top of Rack switches are deployed using Ansible;
  • Web technologies:
    • (Reverse-)proxying/caching is done using HAProxy, Varnish and Squid;
    • We use HAProxy to perform load-balancing;
    • Corosync/Pacemaker and Keepalived are used to achieve high-availability;
  • Keeping our knowledge up to date:
    • We expect you to keep an eye on new technologies that assist us in building a better environment;
    • Spread knowledge across the team and help those who do not have Linux as their primary competence.
